Counselling and Psychotherapy

Counselling

Counselling provides a gentle place to pause, breathe, and make sense of the challenges or changes you’re facing — whether that’s stress, relationship difficulties, grief, or simply a feeling that something isn’t quite right. Together, we can explore what’s happening in the present moment, helping you build understanding, self-awareness, and practical ways to move forward with greater ease and clarity. Counselling is often shorter-term and can help you feel more grounded, resilient, and connected to yourself.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy, while similar in many ways, allows for deeper exploration. It offers a space to look at patterns, emotions, and beliefs that may have developed over time and continue to shape your experiences and relationships today. Through this process, we may begin to understand how the past influences the present — creating room for healing, self-acceptance, and lasting change. Psychotherapy usually takes place over a longer period, giving us the time to move at a pace that feels right for you, as we explore and reflect together.

Psychotherapists, including those still in training, undergo thorough and in-depth preparation. Their training covers psychological theories, human development, mental health, and therapeutic techniques, alongside substantial supervised clinical practice. This ensures that both trainee and fully qualified psychotherapists are equipped to work safely and thoughtfully with complex emotions and relationship patterns, providing a supportive space where longer-term exploration and meaningful healing can take place.

My Own Journey as a Therapist

As a qualified counsellor & trainee psychotherapist, I believe it’s essential to understand my own inner world in order to sit alongside others with empathy and presence. I engage in my own personal therapy, which helps me stay connected to my emotional landscape and aware of what arises within me, so I can offer a grounded and compassionate space for you.

I also take part in regular supervision, a confidential and supportive space where I reflect on my work and seek guidance. Supervision ensures that I remain resourced, cared for, and able to support you with clarity and thoughtfulness.

Whether through counselling or psychotherapy, my intention is to offer a space where you can bring all parts of yourself — a space of warmth, understanding, and acceptance, where healing and growth can unfold gently in their own time.
